Dramaturgy

A dramaturg fills many needs for a variety of projects. These can include new plays, classic plays, adaptations, and translations. In addition to script consultation with playwrights, directors, and designers, dramaturgical needs may also require research packets, lobby displays, curated community events, marketing copy, education support, and data tracking for development. At its core, dramaturgy is Art and Artist Advocacy. As a multi-disciplinary artist (with a background in production), I’ve found it vital to not only understand the weight of artistic choice and vision, but also to effectively communicate and galvanize its implementation.

I’ve read and adjudicated for Bay Area Playwrights Festival with the Playwrights Foundation, The McNally Award with Philadelphia Theatre Company, Philly Young Playwrights for their Annual Playwriting Festival, and for The Barrymore Awards with Theatre Philadelphia. Additionally, I’ve advised on new plays, created interactive and research-based lobby displays, compiled research packets, curated reading lists, and provided copy for marketing, web, and social media.
